Interesting indeed! Local students of Kashmir University told me, the ward Kasheer is traced from the great Kashyap Rishi. Land of the followers of Kashyap Rishi!

Kasheer is the kashmiri name of Kashmir. Maej kasheer is a word in kashmiri which literally means" mother kashmir" in english.
